The Travis C. Kitchen VFW Post 7788 and its auxiliary are sponsoring several scholarship programs for Milford students in grades 6 through 12.
Each of the scholarship programs incorporates a patriotic theme.
Prizes are progressive and awarded at local, district, state and national levels. Entries may earn more than $30,000 to be used to further the student’s education. The three scholarships are:
Patriot’s Pen: This scholarship program is a youth essay open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The theme for this year’s essay is “What Freedom Means to Me.” The deadline for submission to the Post is Nov. 1, 2015.
Voice of Democracy: This scholarship program is an oral essay open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The theme for this year’s essay is “My Vision for America.” The deadline for submission to the Post is Nov. 1, 2015.
Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards: This scholarship program is to express patriotism through art and is open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The deadline for submission to the Post is March 31, 2016.
