The Milford Tax Collector’s Office will be open on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The second installment of taxes for motor vehicles, personal property, and real estate/sewer usage on the grand list of October 1, 2013 are now due.
Residents should use the “return with second payment” stub from the original tax bill mailed to taxpayers in June 2014.
Also, the supplemental motor vehicle tax bills are due. These bills cover vehicles registered between Oct. 2, 2013 and July 31, 2014 and were mailed to taxpayers at the end of December 2014.
The last day to pay these bills without interest is Monday, Feb. 2. Any bill that has not been paid or postmarked by Feb. 2 will incur the state mandated interest charge of 1.5% per month, calculated from the original due date of Jan. 1, 2015. Minimum interest is $2.
If you have recently purchased property or paid off a mortgage, and do not have a bill, you should contact the tax office at 203-783-3217. Failure to receive a bill does not exempt the tax or interest charges that incur on an unpaid bill.
If paying by mail, residents should include a copy of the bill. For a receipt include a self addressed, stamped envelope, along with two copies of the bill. The mailing address is Milford Tax Collector, PO Box 3025, 70 West River St, Milford, CT 06460. Normal office hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
