Nicoletta P. Thomas of Milford, Connecticut passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the age of 93.
Nicoletta was born on February 19, 1920 in Norwich, Connecticut to the late Rosario and Maria Perrone and was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy in 1937.
She married Arthur L. Thomas on January 23, 1943, her husband of seventy years, who survives her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Patti Cacciabaudo and her husband, Anthony of Milford, Connecticut; Leslie Hoffman and her husband Tom of Grand Junction, Colorado; her three granddaughters, Christina Markle and her husband Pershing of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lisa Cacciabaudo of Watertown, Massachusetts; and Cara Cacciabaudo of Milford, Connecticut. Also surviving is her sister, Netta Sakellarides of Norwich, Connecticut; sisters-in-law, Jean Thomas of Weslaco, Texas and Martha Perrone of Fitchville, Connecticut; her brother-in-law, Henry Wilson of Riverdale, Utah and several nieces and nephews. Nicoletta was predeceased by her brother, Angelo Perrone, of Fitchville, Connecticut; and her sisters, Rose Heran, of Saratoga, California, and Margaret Wodopian, of Norwich, Connecticut.
Nicoletta will be missed dearly by her devoted husband and loving daughters and granddaughters, whom she cherished. Nicoletta traveled far and wide with her husband and daughters to Newfoundland, England, France, and the Philippines. Additionally, she resided in Washington, D.C.; Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington; Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi; Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts; Satellite Beach, Florida, Travis Air Force Base in California, and Ogden, Utah where she and Arthur made their home in their retirement before moving to Milford.
Nicoletta loved traveling with her husband and daughters, visits to and from her granddaughters, and visits back to her Norwich family. She was an avid reader, needlepointer, and a daily crossword puzzle fanatic. She retired from service with the Federal Government after 10 years of employment on the various military bases where she resided. Following her retirement she was a volunteer at Bates Elementary School in North Ogden where she assisted for many years in the library.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation from 9am to 10am on Friday, July 19th at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 North Broad Street, Milford, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am at the Saint Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford. Interment will be at the National Veterans’ Cemetery, Camp Williams, Utah at the convenience of the family.
