There will be local road closures on Saturday, March 22 as result of the Sandy Ground 5K in memory of James Mattioli, a young victim of the Newtown shootings.
New Haven Avenue (RT#162) will be closed from Prospect Street to Buckingham Avenue on Saturday morning between the hours of 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
Eastbound New Haven Avenue traffic will be detoured at Prospect Street to Cherry Street to the Boston Post Road. Westbound New Haven Avenue traffic will be detoured at Gulf Street to Cherry Street to River Street. .
Additionally, some local side roads in the area may be subject to closures.
Motorists should follow detour signs to avoid delays and also exercise caution in the area as runners will be in the streets.
Emergency responders are aware of these closures.
