Boys & Girls Club program runs six weeks though Aug. 16

The Boys & Girls Club of Milford says that their summer youth program for this year is filled to capacity, but they are encouraging those who are interested to contact them so they can be placed on a waiting list.

The six week program which is held at West Shore Middle School 70 Kay Ave. is running now until August 16.

Youth ages 6-16 years old can participate in the summer program which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Boys & Girls Club cautions parents whose children participate in the program that early or late pickup times are not available.

The cost of the program is $75 If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact Jill DeWerdt at jdewerdt@sbcglobal.net.

“Thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially the Board of Education and City of Milford for use of the facilities,” noted Boys & Girls Club of Milford Program Director, Jill DeWerdt. “The Milford community came together throughout the year with their generous support, which aided in the Boys & Girls Club being able to host the first ever summer program.”

Each week of the program will have a different theme: Sports Week, Hollywood Week, Friendship Week, Beach Week, Be Great Week, and Animal Week. In addition, a Junior Counselor Program (youth ages 15-17) will be taking place, teaching teens important job skills, how to build a resume, how to dress for an interview, financial responsibility. The Junior Counselor Program participants will also be given minor responsibilities in the execution of the Summer Program.

The Boys & Girls Club currently runs a variety of programs integral to the growth and development of Milford’s youth, most notably:  Money Matters, Torch Club, Healthy Eating, Music, Gardening, Get Fit, Be Great and Image Makers Photography.
