Ruth M. Dowin, age 82, of Milford, beloved wife of Richard Dowin for 62 years, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014.
Ruth was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 13, 1931 to the late John and Gabriela DeAngelis D’Angelico.
She was a past member and president of the Ladies of Devon Lions Club for 42 years and served on the Milford Republican Town Committee for 41 years. Ruth served as commissioner of the Milford Housing Authority and also on the Civil Service Commission. She was an elected Justice of the Peace for the past 30 years and worked as a paraprofessional for the past 10 years helping teach special needs children at Foran High School.
Ruth took great pride and enjoyment in all of her students. She also loved to cook for her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Richard Dowin (Janice) of Durham, Linda McAward (Doug) of Meriden and Thomas Dowin of Milford, three grandchildren; Nick and Danielle Ciriello and Christopher Dowin, and a sister, Rachel Tanski of Trumbull.
Ruth is predeceased by her brother, Michael D’Angelico.
