Glenn Clark O’Donnelly of Milford died at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Jan. 3, after a long illness. She was 72.
She graduated from UCONN and Housatonic Community College earning degrees in English. She worked as a reporter, editor, and free-lance writer for the New Haven Journal-Courier, Milford Citizen, and Weston Voice. She was also a master gardener and wrote a gardening column for the Milford Citizen. In her youth she could be found riding her bike around town, sunbathing at the beach, reading, watching PBS, and taking classes in anything that interested her. Becoming a mother was her proudest accomplishment.
Born December 13,1941 predeceased by her father Robert Simmons she was raised by her mother the late Kathleen (Kitty) Simmons Higgins and the late Raymond J. Higgins, former Health Director for the City of Milford. She leaves behind her husband James W. O’Donnelly. She is predeceased by her only child, Cavan Kerr O’Donnelly.
She is also survived by four sisters, Denice Stuart (George), Gary Wallenta, Patty Twiss (Brian), and Terri Stevenson (Mel); seven nieces and nephews and a great-niece and a great-nephew.
A memorial service will be held at the Woodmont United Church of Christ 1000 New Haven Avenue, Milford, on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodmont United Church of Christ.
