Milford police took custody of Bruce Johnson, 53, of Milford on Dec. 16 regarding two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police say that on Nov. 30 they received a complaint regarding a male trespassing at Café Atlantique located at 33 River Street.
Police accuse Johnson of being on the property after previously being warned not to be there.
On Dec. 2 police received a complaint from the Artifax specialty store located at 17 River Street regarding a suspicious letter containing a white powdery substance they allegedly received from Johnson.
Investigation revealed that Johnson had been harassing and threatening a store representative prior to the letter being received.
Precautions were taken by first responders at the shop and the business was secured during the investigation. According to police, testing of the substance later determined it was not hazardous.
Johnson is charged with first-degree criminal trespass, first-degree breach of peace, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment.
Bond was set at $15,000 for court on Dec. 16.
