The Foran High football team scored the game’s first 43 points and rolled to an easy 50-13 SCC Division II East victory over Sheehan High at Riccitelli Field in Wallingford Friday night.
Junior quarterback Lance DiNatale connected with classmate Brett Huber 10 times for 162 yards, including three touchdowns, to pace the Lions.
Defensively, the Lions ran their unscored upon streak to eight-plus quarters, dating back to late first half of last year’s Jonathan Law game, before the Titans found the end zone in the third quarter.
“We executed well both offensively and defensively,” said Foran head coach Jeff Bevino. “I was very, very pleased with how the kids played today.”
But it was Foran’s special teams that got the scoring started after a slow start. Senior Jordan Townsend blocked a Sheehan punt and sophomore Matthew Cruz scooped up the loose ball and returned it 51 yards late in the first quarter.
“The blocked punt certainly turned everything around,” said Bevino.
Foran improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in SCC Division II East play with the victory. The Lions face Guilford (1-2) Friday night in the second of three consecutive road games.
