Sidewalk art will be among the many offerings at the MAC FEST on September 19 in downtown Milford.

The Milford Arts Council will present the MAC FEST 2015 Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a concert at 6 p.m. with local Milford blues band, The Elwoods.

The MAC FEST will take place along the Milford Green and the Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Avenue. Visitors are welcome to bring chairs or blankets for the day.

The MAC FEST is for all people of every age. There will be arts activities offered all day long, most for free and some for a $5 charge, including sculpting, painting, drawing, photography, a sidewalk chalk contest, drum circle, hypnosis, improv, live music and theatre. There also will be group demonstrations in dance and movement, including tango, Tai Chi, Nia, WalkAbout Yoga, Mulan Quan and a performance of the aerial ring.

These activities are hosted by the Milford Arts Council and non-profit partners: Bridges, Milford Prevention Council, The Literacy Center of Milford, Milford Education Foundation, Milford Public Library, the Junior Women’s Club, Girl Scouts of Connecticut, the REACH Out Program and more. The MAC FEST is sponsored by Milford Bank, The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, Milford Photo, George J. Smith and Son Insurance and the United Way of Milford.

Visitors will find Walnut Beach Creamery, BRYAC Lobster rolls, Italian Ices of CT in the food court as well as the availability of downtown restaurants. There will also be artisan vendors offering sea glass jewelry, birdhouses, photography, paintings, Native American arts, sculpture and more.

Downtown businesses will be open and many will host plein air artists, arts demonstrations, sales or specials to welcome visitors to stroll the shops and restaurants. The Downtown Farmers Market hosted by Scratch Bakery will also be open until 1 p.m.
