Purple is the color of hope at the annual Relay for Life. Purple balloons will be sold for a pre-Relay event called ‘Paint the Town Purple.’
Residents can paint the town purple for cancer awareness
Residents are invited to join the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Milford and “Paint the Town Purple” at a pre-Relay event Saturday, Aug. 29. Downtown Milford will display purple ribbons to promote cancer awareness.
Residents may purchase a purple mylar balloon to raise cancer awareness with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, which takes place at the Jonathan Law High School on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13.
Each Balloon costs $5, paid in advance, and on Aug. 28, the balloons will be delivered to the buyer’s home and tied to their mailbox.
“We want everyone to see purple and to think about celebrating, remembering and fighting back,” organizers said.
Individuals and local businesses are welcome and encouraged to participate by purchasing a balloon and decorating homes and store fronts with purple. Paint the Town Purple supports Relay For Life of Milford, an overnight event that brings the community together in the fight against cancer.
Individuals and teams — made up of family, friends, co-workers and community groups — will unite to raise funds, walk the track, socialize, take in the entertainment, and participate in a variety of activities going on throughout the night. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
