The Milford Education Foundation will present the first city-wide Milford Invention Convention, in association with the renowned Connecticut Invention Convention.

The Milford Invention Convention is open to kindergarten through grade 8 students and is designed to develop and enhance critical thinking skills through invention, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Finalists have the opportunity to advance to the 31st annual Connecticut Invention Convention, which brings hundreds of young inventors from across the state together to present at the University of Connecticut. Previous finalists have had their inventions patented, displayed at the Connecticut Science Center, featured in New York Times articles and on national television.

In preparation for the Milford Invention Convention, the Milford Education Foundation and the Milford Public Library will be running workshops on Saturday mornings from January to March for kindergarten through grade 5 students at the library. Harborside and West Shore Middle Schools, as well as the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club, will also be running their own workshops.

Parent Orientations will offer an overview of the program and everything parents need to know in order for their children to participate. Parent orientations will be on Thursday, Dec. 5 and on Monday, Jan. 6 at Harborside Middle School at 7 p.m. Registration forms will be available at the parent orientations.
