Assistant principals have been appointed at the three middle schools in Milford to fill vacancies due to retirements or staff changes.
Donato Piselli was appointed at East Shore Middle School. He has taught social studies for 15 years, his first six years in grade 7 in Wilton before he came to Milford. Piselli taught for two years at Foran High before going to West Shore in 2008.
He is the Social Studies Curriculum and Instructional Leader and served as Data Team Leader at West Shore, has been involved in curriculum writing and design, and is a leader in the integration of technology in the content area.
Jamie Whitaker was named assistant principal at Harborside Middle School. Whitaker has been the interim assistant principal at Harborside this year, assuming the role when Shannan Carlson was appointed interim supervisor of district improvement.
Kenneth Hayes was named assistant principal at West Shore Middle School. He is currently the numeracy coach at Jettie Tisdale School in Bridgeport. He began his teaching career as a sixth grade teacher at Thomas Hooker School in Bridgeport, remaining there for nine years. In 2007 he became the school’s numeracy coach, and since then has served in this role in different schools in the district.
The three are expected to assume their new roles beginning July 1.
