The Jonathan Law girls cross country team placed first in the Neubauer Invitational at Sheehan High in Wallingford on Sept. 11.
Law was paced by Haley Palmer, who finished third overall with a time of 25:15 over the 3.1 mile course.
She was followed by Maryanne Lonergan in 7th (26:09) and Monica Macchio in 9th (26:43) to put three Law runners in the top 10.
Lianne Maynard finished in 12th with a time of 27:16 and Marissa Prizio was the Eagles’ fifth runner and she took in 14th place (27:57), giving Law a total of 45 points besting second-place Lyman Hall, which scored 48.
On Sept. 14, the girls participated in the 35th annual Robert Haddad Windham Invitational at Windham High School.
Law was again led by Palmer, who finished 72nd out of 112 runners with a time of 23:26 over the 3-mile course.
She was followed in rapid succession by Maynard 75th (23:42), Lonergan 76th (23:45) and Macchio in 79th (23:57). Destiny Jennings was Law’s fifth runner finishing 91st overall giving Law a point total of 382 points to tie for 13th place.I
n the JV race, newcomer Sarah Werthmann was 76th out of 220 runners finishing in 25:20, while Zoe Taylor 94th and Ashley Franklin 102nd also ran well for Law.
The freshman race saw promising runners Jessica Cuevas finish 59th (17:03) out of 112 with Ashley Boehm 61st (17:06) and Taylor Haase 64th (17:07) over the 2.1 mile course.
