Shoplifting
Two women were arrested this week after separate shoplifting incidents at the Westfield Connecticut Post mall. In both cases the women reportedly removed security tags from the items they attempted to steal.
Police said Suneida Colon, 25, of Bridgeport was arrested Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. for taking $1,050 worth of merchandise from JC Penney without paying for it.
Police said she was found to be in possession of a screwdriver used to remove security tags. She was with two men at the time of the theft, and police said they are trying to identify and apprehend the two men.
Colon was charged with larceny, possession of a shoplifting device and conspiracy to commit larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court March 24.
A little more than an hour later, police arrested Heidi Bokowski, 50, of New Haven for reportedly taking $550 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.
Police said Bokowski damaged the stolen merchandise when she removed the security tags.
She was charged with larceny and criminal mischief and was released from police custody on her promise to appear in court March 24.
Warrant
Milford police took custody of Edward Yearwood, 30, of Bridgeport on two outstanding warrants for his arrest on Feb. 24. The first warrant accuses Yearwood of failing to appear in court on July 7, 2014, for motor vehicle offenses committed in Milford on Dec. 6, 2013.
The second warrant accuses Yearwood of failing to appear in court on Aug. 27, 2014, for a breach-of-peace charge committed in Stratford on June 26, 2014.
Yearwood is charged with two counts of second-degree failure to appear in court.
Bond was set at $1,150 for court on March 11 and March 25.
Check fraud
Milford police took custody of Marcus Hicks, 23, of Milford on Feb. 27 on a warrant that accused him of depositing a fraudulent check.
Police say that on Sept. 8, 2014, they received a complaint regarding a fraudulent check that was deposited at Sikorsky Federal Credit Union located at 15 Turnpike Square. Investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Hicks, who is accused of making the fraudulent transaction in the amount of $3,652.
Hicks is charged with third-degree larceny.
He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 24.
Assault on police
Two brothers were arrested Saturday night after police got a report of a drunk person jumping on parked cars in the Spring Street area.
Police said they responded to 14 Spring Street at about midnight Saturday and met up with Michael Assad, 23, and Anthony Assad, 24, of 14 Spring Street.
Police said Michael is accused of striking an officer with a door, hitting another officer in the face and throwing a car battery and other objects at the officers.
Anthony reportedly refused to comply with the officers and tried to run from the area.
Michael head-butted and kicked an emergency medical services employee trying to treat him for injuries he sustained while damaging a window at the house, police said.
Michael was charged with breach of peace, assault on emergency personnel and interfering with police. He was held on $100,000 bond.
Anthony was charged with breach of peace and interfering with police. He was released from police custody on his promise to appear in court March 24.
Protective order violation
Milford police issued an arrest warrant and took custody of Darrell White, 38, of Bridgeport on Feb. 27 after they received a complaint on Feb. 26 from a Milford resident regarding a protective order violation involving White.
Police accuse White of contacting a former companion and violating a court-issued protective order.
White is charged with violation of a protective order.
He was held on a $25,000 bond at the time of his arrest.
Assault
Milford police arrested Randy Green, 53, of Milford on Feb. 28 after they received a complaint regarding a disturbance at a Highview Avenue residence.
Police accuse Green of injuring another resident of the home with a yard tool. He is charged with third-degree assault.
He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 2.
