Donald C. Smith, Sr., age 87, a lifelong resident of Milford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Shelton, CT.
He was born on August 22, 1927 in Milford to the late Franklyn and Mildred Clark Smith.
He graduated from Milford High School, then entered the US Navy where he served with pride and honor on the USS Tarawa during WWII.
Don established Milford Drywall contractors in 1950 and worked as a self-employed drywall contractor.
He enjoyed boating and fishing in Long Island Sound.
He is survived by his sons, Donald C. Smith, Jr and his wife Michele of Cheshire and Kevin K. Smith and his wife Michele Montique of Milford; his cherished granddaughter, Kristen E. Smith and a great granddaughter, Kate Smith Michels, both of Monroe.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 8th from 4 pm to 6 pm with a Prayer Service at 5:30pm (Deacon Richard Sennett, officiating) at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, New York, NY 10004.
