Minds In Motion, a workshop series of the Connecticut Association for the Gifted, will be held at Milford’s Jonathan Law High School on March 7.
Emmeline Harrigan is serving as chair of the event which is co-sponsored by CAG, the Milford Education Foundation, and the parents and educators of Milford public school with additional support from The Goddard School, Hubbell and The Milford Bank.
Milford’s Minds In Motion event features 31 different workshops for children including LEGO WeDo Robotics given by Modupe Oshin; Remote Control Fun, given by Marilou Oh; All the World’s a Stage!, given by the Woodruff Family YMCA; Puzzles, Codes and Wordplay, given by Eric Berlin; and Clay Sculpting, given by Dr. Ivan Tirado-Cordero.
Workshops for adults include Becoming a Parent Leader and Advocate, given by Leslie Darling; Motivating Minds: Unlocking the Your Child’s Learning Potential, given by Scott Hobson; Understanding Connecticut’s Common Core Standards, given by Don Romoser; and Brain Food: Maximize your Child’s Potential, One Meal at a Time, given by Michelle Ryan.
This year’s parent keynote address will be given by Dr. Elizabeth Feser, Superintendent of Milford Public Schools. Dr. Feser has been a professional educator in both the public and parochial educational systems in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. She currently is serving as President of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS) and is a member of the Connecticut Superintendents’ Network, a clinical study group focused on improving instructional practice and creating the conditions that foster student achievement. Dr. Feser will provide her observations on education.
Each Minds in Motion offers fast-paced workshops for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The event is designed to enrich and encourage curious students.
In addition, the adult keynote and workshops will provide parents with special interest workshops, free of charge. Minds in Motion also affords the opportunity to network with fellow parents and learn about resources, after-school programs, camps, books and other educational tools.

The cost for CAG members is $25 per child, and for non-members $35 per child for the whole afternoon.
Financial aid is available upon request. Registration deadline for the children’s workshops is Feb. 27. Space is limited, classes are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and they fill up fast.
