Eastbound Theatre will stage Last Romance at Center for the Arts beginning Friday, Feb. 6. The play stars Nancy Hammett and Andrea Garmun.
Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Arts Council, will present the second show of its 21st season, the heartwarming comedy “The Last Romance,” by Joe DiPietro, directed by Nancy A. Herman.
The production will run from Feb. 6 through Feb. 22, at the Milford Center for the Arts. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

“The Last Romance” features Andrea Garmun of Milford, Kevin Miller of Stamford, Nancy Hammett of Fairfield and Richard Yanowitz of Hamden.
Widower Ralph is full of life and exuberance, while the lovely Carol is elegant but a bit more straight-laced. Neither of them believes they will find love this late in life, particularly with each other — and Ralph’s lonely and jealous sister, Rose, isn’t helping.
“The Last Romance” explores the trials, tribulations, and tender moments of a couple finding love in their golden years. Punctuated with touching moments of humor, heartbreak, and opera, “The Last Romance” shows that life can be lived with passion at any age.
As director Nancy A. Herman explains, “The Last Romance is a bittersweet story peopled with the kinds of characters with whom we are all familiar – our family members and our neighbors — characters who are believable because they are both lovable and flawed. With no identifiable antagonist or ‘bad guy,’ the conflict arises from the everyday circumstances of life and our very human efforts to find connection and fulfillment at any age. And the play’s use of opera acts as a wonderful metaphor for the drama and beauty, the longing and the sacrifice that we all recognize as inevitable aspects of love.”
