The Milford hockey team spotted Cheshire High the lead when the Rams capitalized on a first period penalty that turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 advantage on two power-play goals.
The Indians went on the defensive, led by goal tender Sean Rowland’s 25 saves, to keep the Rams off the scoreboard for a better part of a period and a half.
But Milford wasn’t getting its share of shots on goal, and trailed 2-1 entering the final period.
Milford (6-5-0) exploded with a frenzy, scoring two goals in a span of two minutes to take the lead and added an insurance goal with eight minutes remaining to take a 4-2 lead.
Cheshire (6-6-1) closed the gap with two minutes left on a goal following a pile up out in front on the net. The Indians scored an empty net goal to pull out a 5-3 win on Saturday at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
Brady Dennigan scored two goals to lead the Indians and added three assists. Luke Gibbs, Brandon Argyros and Colin DiPisa also scored goal for Milford in the win.
