Charles “John” Meloling of Milford, CT died in Milford Hospital October 25, 2014 after a brief illness, in the company of loved ones.
John was born in Bridgeport, CT August 18, 1940 to the late Alice Young and Charles MacDonald.
He attended Milford schools and graduated from Milford High School. He was employed at Stratton Industries in Stratford, CT until his retirement.
John is survived by brothers, Francis Meloling, of Sanford, FL and Robert MacDonald, of Stratford, CT. Survivors also include his former spouse, Cecelia Zurhellen of Milford, CT, her children Keith Satterlee of Milford and Colleen Satterlee of West Haven, and grandchildren Nathan and Julia Satterlee of Milford.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother William Meloling, sisters Ruth Graham and Gloria Chaliz, and stepson Sean Satterlee.
John enjoyed gardening, traveling, creating artwork as well as being a longtime member of the Milford Senior Center. John was also an avid history buff and Yankees fan.
A memorial service will be held at Smith and Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford from 2 to 3 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
