The Foran High football team defeated SCC rival Guilford High, 50-21, at the Vito DeVito Sports Complex on Friday night.
Coach Jeff Bevino’s Lions improved to 5-5 and can earn a winning record with a victory over Jonathan Law (5-4) on Thanksgiving Day.
Stephen Longley, who rushed for 148 yards, scored on a 13-yard run and Joe Radecki made the first of his six PAT kicks to stake Foran to a 7-0 lead.
Guilford (2-8) surged in front behind a 58-yard run by Mike Filley and Tyler Malon’s blocked punt recovery in the end zone.
Jake Kasuba tossed the first of his scoring passes to Pat Fitzgerald, this one from 28 yards out, and Longley ran for the two-point conversion to make it 15-14 Foran after one period.
Kasuba completed 12 of 16 passes for 176 yards.
The Lions outscored the Indians, 21-0, in the second quarter.
Brett Huber ran for a 2-yard touchdown, Kasuba found Fitzgerald with a 19-yarder, and Kevin O’Connor found the end zone from 3 yards out.
Longley scored on runs of 4 and 1 yard in the third quarter.
