Police make one arrest in June shooting in Howard Johnson parking lot

Milford police and investigators walk a line in a parking lot at Howard Johnson in June, looking for evidence from a reported shooting. They made one arrest in that shooting this week.

Police have made one arrest in a June 6 shooting outside the Howard Johnson Motel in Milford and expect to make at least one more arrest.

On June 6 at about 1:30 p.m., the Milford Police Department received a complaint of shots being discharged in the parking lot of Howard Johnson Motel at 1052 Boston Post Road.

Police said there had been a dispute between two parties in the parking lot, which led to the discharging of a firearm.

Through the course of their investigations, police identified Wilfredo Vega, 25, of Bridgeport, as one of the people involved.

Vega was arrested on a warrant Aug. 28, charged with criminal use of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal attempt at assault 1st degree and reckless endangerment 1st degree.

He was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at Milford Superior Court on Sept. 24.
