Scenes of Milford are hung at the Milford train station.
Scenes of Milford now decorate the Milford train station, bringing a bit of art and a real Milford perspective to the transportation hub.
MilfordViews is a collaboration between local photographers, the Milford Arts Council, Milford Chamber of Commerce and the City of Milford to beautify the train station.
Through this project, 15 photographs submitted by local photographers will be displayed at the train station, in addition to walking maps and community boards where residents can post event flyers. The photographs depict a variety of Milford scenes including its many beaches, City Hall and Eisenhower Park.
The installation was recently completed by Brian Reeves and Ned Nicholson of FastSigns of Milford.
The City of Milford and the Milford Arts Council asked Milford residents in August to submit iconic photographs of Milford for use at the Milford Train Station. Previously, flyers and tape littered the blank kiosks, but now the space is filled with scenes of Milford.
The photographers whose work will be displayed include: Chris Carveth, Kerry DiDonato, Bill Fritz (Fritz Photography), Alison Margo (Alison Margo Photography), JJ Richards (Singing with Light Photography), John Supan (John Supan Photography), and Emily Versteeg.
Local artist Rob Kurfehs designed the graphics adorning the community board and walking map, while the walking map was contributed by the Milford Chamber of Commerce.
To officially unveil the photographs and celebrate the many photographers who submitted their work for the project, a cocktail party will be held on Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Milford Arts Council. Residents are invited.
While not all photographs could be displayed at the train station, all of the submitted work will be shown through a slideshow presentation at the Arts Council.
Additionally, all photographs displayed on the platform will be available for purchase through the photographers.
Organizer of the project and Director of Economic and Community Development Julie Nash said, “We are thrilled with the platform enhancements, made all the better by local photographers and thank the Department of Transportation for its support. This beautification project will be a great invitation to those who pass by Milford on the train.”
