Helen Veronica Uresky, beloved by many and avid singer, age 99, cherished wife to the late Joseph Uresky and longtime resident of Milford, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Milford Health Care Center.

Born in Bridgeport on July 2, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Veronica Barker.

During WWII Helen lived in New Hampshire with her husband and while he worked on a submarine base, she was employed at a button factory. Helen continued her employment at Remington Arms, Westport Development and Bunker-Ramo from where she finally retired.

Helen was an excellent cook and passed on many ethnic Polish recipes such as her perogi recipe that she made every Easter with her beloved grandchildren. She could often be found sitting in her daughter’s store where she enjoyed greeting and talking to the customers who delighted in her conversations. More than anything Helen loved to sing and preform and was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Guild Choir, a bell-ringer in the Gospel Choir at the Milford Senior Center. She was a gregarious, cheerful and a hard worker who loved her friends and family very much and will be missed by all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her four children Robert Uresky (Susan), Beverly Dennis (Robert), Richard Uresky and Elizabeth Jordan, she was Gran-Nan to seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased by her four older brothers Joseph, Frank, Stanley and John as well as her granddaughter Cynthia Uresky.
