Stolen purse
Larceny charges were filed against a New Haven man Sept. 23. Police arrested Elvis Lopez, 38, of New Haven on a warrant and charged him with larceny and attempted larceny.
The charges stem from a Sept. 18 complaint regarding a larceny from a motor vehicle at the Westfield shopping mall. An investigation revealed that the victim’s window was damaged and her purse, several debit/credit cards and checkbook were taken. Lopez allegedly attempted to cash one of the stolen checks at a bank in New Haven that same day.
Lopez was held in police custody on a $25,000 bond.
Drug factory
Police arrested a Milford man on a warrant Sept. 24 for allegedly operating a drug factory at his home.
According to police, Timothy Yankee, 33, of Field Court, was arrested and charged with operating a drug factory, cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police were in Yankee’s house on July 20 for a complaint about a domestic disturbance at the home. When they were inside, they allegedly found several marijuana plants, cultivation equipment and drug paraphernalia. They obtained a warrant and returned Sept. 24.
Yankee was released from police custody on a promise to appear in court Oct. 21.
Drugs and weapons
Police arrested two men Sept. 24 on drug and weapon charges.
According to a police report, police received a complaint about suspicious activity at 17 Foran Road at 7 p.m. Sept. 24. They investigated and found two men, John Budnovitch IV, 18, of Valley View Road, Milford, and Reynaldo Canales, 20, of Shanley Street, Stratford, who police said were in possession of Percocet prescription pills. Budnovitch allegedly sold some of the prescription pills to Canales.
Canales, who also was found in possession of brass knuckles, reportedly told police he planned to sell the Percocet. Budnovitch was found with an illegal knife, police said.
Budnovitch was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was released on a promise to appear in court Oct. 21.
Canales was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was held in police custody on $1,000 bond.
Residential burglary
The Milford Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred at a River Street residence Sept. 13.
Police said that on Sept. 13 a resident found that her home had been entered and that her wallet and an undisclosed amount of money were taken. Police discovered that the victim’s debit card was used at two stores in Milford and Stratford. The victim’s wallet was recovered in a garbage can at the bus stop on North Broad Street near River Street in Milford.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 40 years old, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin, and wearing glasses, a black baseball hat, a gray-and-black long-sleeved shirt, and jeans and carrying a black backpack.

Spitting
A Seymour man was arrested on a warrant Sept. 26 for allegedly spitting on a woman in Milford Aug. 16 following a fight over a parking spot.
Police said that on Aug. 16 they were called to a West Main Street parking lot, where Jason Pullo, 36, of Seymour, had allegedly caused a disturbance and spit on a woman and her car when they battled over a parking space.
Pullo was charged with breach of peace. Bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 21.
DUI
Milford police arrested Briana Jaworski, 32, of Milford for DUI on Sept. 27 after an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road.
During a stop of the vehicle, police said, they found that Jaworski was operating while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in her arrest. Jawroski refused to perform a Breathalyzer test.
She is charged with DUI and failure to drive right.
Bond was set at $500 for court on Oct. 23.
Assault
Milford police arrested Kathleen Rappa, 23, of Milford for assaulting a family member on Sept. 28 after an officer observed an injured person lying on the ground on River Street.
Police accuse Rappa of assaulting the victim during an argument. Rappa is charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.
She was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 29.
