The Milford Hall of Fame still has some ad book space available for a special 72-page Milford commemorative booklet being printed in honor of the city’s milestone 375th anniversary of its founding in 1639.

According to MHOF Chair Jerry Patton, several full page, half-page, business card and nameline ad slots are still available in the booklet, which is expected to go to print in August. As a special incentive for those purchasing full page ads, Patton has arranged for each purchaser to have their photo taken with current Mayor Ben Blake and five of Milford’s former mayors, Alberta Jagoe, Alan Jepson, Ed Kozlowski, Joel Baldwin and Jim Richetelli, Jr.

“This is a one-time opportunity to have your picture taken with our six mayors to hang in your office or shop,” Patton said. “Everyone who is anyone in Milford should have that photo hanging on their wall.”

The booklet contains the biographies of 35 of Milford’s most famous residents – who are all prior or current year inductees into the Milford Hall of Fame, including: Paugasset Chief Ansantawae, the Rev. Peter Prudden, Thomas Tibbals, William Fowler, Jasper Gunn, Martha Beard, Peter Pond, Robert Treat, the Rev. Samuel Andrew, Jonathan Law, Captain Jehiel Bryan, Capt. Stephen Stow, Joseph Plumb Martin, Charles Hobby Pond, John Downs, Abigail Ann Merwin, Edward R. Lambert, Mary Hepburn Smith, George Willard Coy, Henry Augustus Taylor and George Bird Grinnell.

Also, George W. Baird, Charles H. Marsh, Frank Julian Sprague, William Merwin, Everett B. Clark, Frank H. Woodruff, Sylvester Z. Poli, Simon Lake, Fannie Elizabeth Beach, Judge Omar Platt, Dr. William Fischer, Herbert Israel Mathewson, Dr. Helen Langner, Joseph Foran and Winthrop A. “Pink” Smith are featured.

Each biography has been authored by a local resident or group of writers, including: Joseph B. Barnes, Kit Collier, Manny Strumpf, Frank Juliano, William McDonald, Katie Krauss Murphy, Monica Foran, with several written by city high school students edited by Dr. George Barbiero.

The commemorative booklet is being edited by former Milford Mirror editor and executive editor Chris Carroll.
