Heavy rain is expected beginning this afternoon, with the National Weather Service (NWS) having issued a Flash Flood Watch for southern Connecticut.
The Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Fairfield and New Haven counties as well as the entire southern part of the state from noon on Monday, through all of Tuesday, until Wednesday morning.
“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across the region ahead of a cold front this afternoon through late Tuesday night,” said the NWS, warning of the potential for “torrential downpours with storm total rainfall between 2 to 3 inches. Locally higher amounts can be expected.”
This could lead to flooding in urbanized areas, low-lying areas, roadways, rivers and streams, and places with poor drainage.
